Everyone hates those nasty violent Israeli settlers on the West Bank, aka Judea and Samaria. But, as Adam Louis-Klein shows at Tablet, there are two sides to the story – and only one is being heard.

The narrative logic behind this campaign parallels other antizionist accusations such as the genocide libel, intentional starvation in Gaza, or the IDF targeting children. It’s an ongoing information operation. As the previous libels are debunked, their propagators simply shift their attention to new targets: “the settlers.” In Gaza, Hamas’s conduct was pushed from view so Israel’s response could be cast as inherently evil. In the West Bank, Palestinian violence against Israelis is minimized until all that remains is alleged Israeli criminality….

When antizionists justified the Oct. 7 genocide against Israelis living near the border with Gaza, they had to dehumanize people living within the Green Line—many of them left-wing peace activists. The outbreak of another intifada would this time target communities in Judea and Samaria who have already been subject to a relentless campaign of demonization: right wing, religious, traditional, and seen as undeserving of sympathy.

As with previous antizionist libels, the campaign against “settler violence” will surely license further attacks on Jews across the globe.
