More on WellBN, the rogue NHS clinic in Brighton that doled out “gender affirming” medication to young kids. From the Times:
It was the summer of 2019 when Simon first heard the word “non-binary”.
The term was introduced to him by his 11-year-old daughter who, just months before beginning secondary school, would go on to inform him that she now identified as a boy.
This admission was the start of a transition that would see his daughter present as male — a journey he claims has been littered with safeguarding failures from institutions ranging from his child’s school to the local authority and the NHS.
How could it be clearer? – that this a social contagion. An 11-year-old girl suddenly decides she’s “non-binary”, or a boy, and then gets sucked into the whole trans care nonsense, with affirmation all the way.
It progressed, he claims, to his 16-year-old child being given testosterone by a GP practice in Brighton called WellBN.
Simon — which is not his real name to protect his daughter’s identity — claimed the treatment provided to the teenager by WellBN amounted to “child abuse”.
Last week a NHS report concluded WellBN practice, which operates a transgender health hub, potentially harmed 78 children to whom it prescribed puberty-blocking drugs and cross-sex hormones.
A year-long investigation, led by Surrey and Sussex Integrated Care Board (ICB) with support from NHSE, found that the practice’s care “fell far short of what could be considered safe or appropriate”.
The surgery prescribed 51 children aged 16 and under cross-sex hormones, including testosterone to masculinise their appearance and oestrogen to feminise it, the report said.
Four of these patients were first prescribed hormones at the age of 12, four at 13, seven at 14 and 12 at age 15….
Long-term use of hormone treatment can result in irreversible physical changes and cause permanent infertility.
Among the failures of the surgery detailed in the NHS report were that its assessments were “wholly inadequate”, blood and other tests were often not carried out and none of the clinicians involved “were professionally competent to initiate or assume responsibility” for prescribing gender medications.
More than 20 children were given drugs without a face-to-face appointment between February 2023 and December 2025.
The report also concluded that there was “considerable concern” that children were being prescribed medication “without obtaining properly informed consent from the children/young people and their parents (where necessary).”
Simon, 55, claims similarly he was never contacted by WellBN to be part of any consent process in relation to his child’s medical treatment….
He recalls that he was only alerted to the fact his daughter had started taking testosterone at the end of 2024 when he noticed physical changes.
“Her voice started dropping and her physique started to look more square,” he told The Times.
It was only when Simon later put it directly to his daughter that she was taking testosterone that he says the teenager confirmed this was the case and she was under the care of WellBN.
Simon said he was deeply upset to discover his child was taking the hormones, but felt unable to challenge WellBN because of his previous experiences of making objections to her gender transition to other institutions.
He claims, for example, that his daughter was immediately affirmed as the opposite gender when she began secondary school despite his concerns, and that she was told by a social worker at 14 to ignore him and make her own decisions.
A disgrace.
Will our bold and resolute new health secretary finally sort this mess out?

Will pigs fly?
