The Times front page today:

The picture is of Palestinian children, "wounded in airstrikes in Gaza City's Al Shifa Hospital".

The pictures of mutilated Israeli children are too horrific, so we get wounded Palestinian children instead. It kind of sums it up.

And here's Peter Brookes' cartoon:

Gaza

This how it's going to go now, isn't it? We can quickly forget about the Hamas atrocities and fixate on what we really enjoy – seeing how evil the Israelis are.

Hundreds of Jews killed in the worst slaughter since the Holocaust – and thousands demonstrate in support of the killers across the UK, while Jewish schools have to shut because of increasing antisemitic attacks….

“Hundreds of Jews killed in the worst slaughter since the Holocaust” There it is again! As ghastly and as barbaric as is the murder of 1200 civilians, it doesn’t help to make comparisons with the Holocaust, in my opinion.
It tends to suggest Israel can (and should) go to the utmost extremes (see Gerard Baker in the Times today under that ghastly cartoon!!!!). Yes, it might be so for Hamas and their ilk, but not the Palestian civilians. Israel has to win the publicity war as well as the military one!!
I wonder what the slaughter (of all kinds) was on both sides in 1946-1948 and 1967. One example was the 91 who died in the King David Hotel.

It’s not a comparison with the Holocaust. It’s just saying it’s the greatest slaughter of Jews since the Holocaust.

I’m sorry; to my way of thinking that is a comparison with the Holocaust.

Observers who are both fair-minded and honest are few and far between but they can understand the difference between comparing and equating. The media decided decades ago Israel will always lose the ‘propaganda war’.
