This is not encouraging – Oxford has let down transgender students, vice-chancellor says:

Oxford’s vice-chancellor in her first oration has condemned abuse of transgender students and said that the university should have done more to support them.

Professor Irene Tracey said that free speech took centre stage but had to remain within the “bounds of civility”, adding that the concept was misused on social media to vilify opponents.

Protests broke out when Professor Kathleen Stock, an academic who believes that sex is immutable, spoke at the Oxford Union earlier this year. Trans rights activists disrupted the event to demonstrate against the invitation.

In her first annual oration to the university after being appointed, Tracey called for more women professors and said the university would protect the humanities during the government’s focus on science and maths subjects.

What abuse of transgender students?? The only abuse comes from trans students and their supporters.

She wants more women – but not the nasty kind like Kathleen Stock who insist that sex matters.

Well, I guess you don't get to be vice-chancellor of a university by thinking for yourself.
