    I’ve always liked these old tenements. Are they Peabody’s?
    The best of them all though is the Boundary Estate in Bethnal Green

    No, I don’t think they are Peabody’s, though they do have that feel about them. Absolutely agree about the Boundary Estate, round Arnold Circus.

    It appears those trees have been subjected to a form of pollarding, over the years(?), certainly brutally pruned at least. Keeping in mind the huge maintenance cost, why such intrusive surgery? Wrong trees; right place?

    Thanks, M.H.; from your linked pic it looks like it’s been an ongoing ritual. Not terribly ugly but not especially beautiful either, especially out of season.
