I’ve always liked these old tenements. Are they Peabody’s?
The best of them all though is the Boundary Estate in Bethnal Green

No, I don’t think they are Peabody’s, though they do have that feel about them. Absolutely agree about the Boundary Estate, round Arnold Circus.

It appears those trees have been subjected to a form of pollarding, over the years(?), certainly brutally pruned at least. Keeping in mind the huge maintenance cost, why such intrusive surgery? Wrong trees; right place?

Yes, pollarded a year or so ago – and drastically. Thanks, M.H.; from your linked pic it looks like it’s been an ongoing ritual. Not terribly ugly but not especially beautiful either, especially out of season.

The City arborist likes ’em fairly natural.
