The Sunni powers are unprepared, despite the Mecca Accords. So, it seems, Israel steps up:

The Ottoman Empire, we are led to believe, is back with maps peddled showing an Imperial Turkey stretching from the Atlantic to the Red Sea.

We hear of how Turkey dominates Somalia and just last week there were self-congratulating articles and bragging statements about launching the great Turkish airforce’s planes from bases in Somalia (which is adjacent to Houthis in Yemen) against some Somali oppositionists.

But when the Saudis asked for help, Turkey gave neither planes nor intelligence. For that, Saudi Arabia in self defense had to turn to Israel. Article 5 guarantees of Ankara proved as solid as the desert sand and as bankable as the Turkish pound.

Herr Erdogan perhaps should digest his humble pie for a few days.
