It does seem remarkable, approaching the 25th anniversary of 9/11 – when New York was attacked by terrorists in the name of Islam – that the city has a Muslim mayor. I do understand that the 9/11 killers were wild Al-Qaeda-inspired Islamists, and Mamdani is of course a moderate man of sophistication who will be quick to condemn those attacks in the strongest terms come the memorial services. But still…
