On Sadiq Khan accusing Israel of genocide, from the Jewish Leadership Council:

As Mayor of one of the world’s most diverse cities, Sadiq Khan should be focused on bringing communities together, not making statements that risk driving them further apart. However, his latest comments on Channel 4 News once again saw him use his platform to comment on matters of foreign affairs that are not the responsibility of the Mayor of London.

We all share concerns about the humanitarian situation in Gaza, but for the Mayor to accuse the world’s only Jewish state of genocide is deeply irresponsible, particularly in the context of recent attacks against London’s Jewish community. His repeated inaccurate and offensive interventions do nothing to improve the situation in Gaza; they only deepen division in London, to the point where many Jewish Londoners no longer feel represented by their Mayor.

Many non-Jewish Londoners too.

Sheikh Hatim Abu Lahiya gave his son Mohammed a wedding gift of 70,000 shekels during the ceremony in Gaza. This large financial gift, known locally as “nuqut,” has gone viral on Arab social media and has been dubbed the “longest nuqut” at any wedding Gaza this year…’
