    Just saw the Montreal square a few days ago. No horses! But the most of the buildings still stand. Across the (mostly snow-covered) square is Notre Dame Basilica, Montreal’s answer to the one in Paris.

    The impressive Corinthian pillars are on the main branch of the Bank of Montreal. Some Northwest Co. trader opened account #7, which persisted as a Hudson’s Bay Co. account into the 1980s (and perhaps longer).
