Halloween has now effectively replaced Guy Fawkes and bonfire night in our autumn festivities this time of year. An American import, of course, but…well, might as well roll with it. It's a sort of homecoming anyway – All Hallow's Eve, Celtic mythology…all that.

Bonfire Night is still very much with us in some places, most notably East Sussex. Lewes will be burning multiple effigies on 4 November (because the 5th falls on Sunday).
Incidentally some of the Halloween tableaux I’ve seen this year seem decidedly ill-considered in the light of recent events. Severed limbs have no place in front gardens, and nor do body bags.

how do i put this, all hallows eve is the night before all saints day. nov 5 is an historical political (with political and religious overtones) THEY ARE NOT THE SAME
