A report in North Korea's official Rodong Sinmun:

Kim Jong Un, president of the State Affairs of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, received a message of greeting from Carl ⅩⅥ Gustaf, king of the Kingdom of Sweden on September 9.

The message said:

On the occasion of the Anniversary of the founding of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea I wish to convey to Your Excellency my best wishes for the future and for the welfare of the people of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.

Why is the King of Sweden sending goodwill messages to Kim Jong-Un?

Well, there's history. As Cab Calloway sang in Minnie the Moocher:

She had a dream about the King of Sweden,
He gave her things that she was needin'…

Always popping up in the most unlikely places.

Update: King Charles, it seems, has sent greetings too, "on the advice of the Foreign Office". Blimey.

Here we are:

Kim Jong Un, president of the State Affairs of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK), received a message of greeting from Charles III, king of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, on September 9.

The message said: As the people of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea celebrate their National Day, I send my good wishes for the future.
