Why the West Yorkshire Police were guilty of kidnapping:

The actions of @WestYorksPolice fit this criteria. What they did was not a mistake, not overzealous policing, not a misunderstanding of facts. It was a crime.
2. If any other group had done this, there would be no question about it being a criminal abduction. The police are the public and do not get a free pass. Ignorance as to law is never a defence.
3. That the police so swiftly dropped all criminal investigations into the girl is testament to the obviousness of the facts. There was not even a whiff of a criminal offence.
4. That being the case, the police must not get away with any sort of apology or statement that lessons will be learned. The public don’t get off by saying that. Neither should the police.
5. The Chief Constable and any senior officer promoting the Stonewall influence need removing from office immediately. Criminal charges need bringing against all involved. This was a kidnap by an organised gang who just happened to be coppers.
