Of course we should always be wary of blaming mothers: remember the dicredited  "refrigerator mother" theory for autism.

    Interesting indeed. For some reason the name “Munchausen” springs to mind.

    Well, the study is 30 years old. That explains the strange language of the abstract (“normal boys”). I still think it’s social contagion and white children given a get-out-jail card if they call themselves non-binary. There’s a little munchausen by proxy and the rest, a small percent, is genuine dysphoria. My $.02.
