There are, apparently, over seven thousand varieties of apple, with names like Rubaiyat, Sheep's Nose, Api Etoile, or Knobbed Russet. New York-based photographer William Mullan had an epiphany when he bit into a Pink Pearl at a farmer's market, and decided to photograph some of the more obscure cultivars for his Odd Apples series:
