An interesting response to those threats against JK Rowling, from trans charity Mermaids:

She's "dispicable" for making those threats known, because she's putting out the message that trans people send violent threats – which they do – and that might encourage people to be nasty to those poor beleaguered trans people. Even though the threats of violence are entirely one way.
The sense of victimhood is all-consuming.
