This is the modern conversion therapy: persuading a young gay man that he's really a woman and needs serious medical intervention. From the Telegraph:

Children questioning whether they are trans need shielding from content on CBBC and Childline, a mother who claims her teenage son was “groomed” into taking hormone blockers has said.

The woman warned that her 19-year-old child had been given drugs that could have a long-term impact on their development within weeks of being sent to an NHS gender identity clinic.

She believes her son is gay, but said the focus on trans issues in schools, online and on TV combined with bullying over his sexuality had persuaded him to go down a potentially irreversible medical route.

The mother, who cannot be named, spoke to the Telegraph to mark the launch of Genspect, a support group for parents who are concerned about the treatment that their children are receiving….

The mother told the Telegraph that from a young age her son had shied away from typically “male pursuits” and had always had more friends who were girls.

At the age of 11, he came out as gay and was subject to bullying at school because of his sexuality. At the age of 14 he said he was a trans woman.

She noticed that when he told her he was trans he used “the stock phrases” and she believes he was “groomed at school”, where they used guidance from Stonewall, the LGBT charity.

The mother said: “The influences are everywhere. Who knew that you had to protect your children from CBBC or Childline?”

Both the BBC and the NSPCC, which runs Childline, have come in for criticism for providing a one-sided view of transitioning.

The Beeb is a Stonewall Diversity Chmpion, so no mystery there.

The NSPCC, which has endorsed Mermaids, the transgender support charity, has a series of YouTube videos about being homosexual, which it is alleged are skewed toward the trans debate.

The mother believes that after viewing that material, her son became obsessed with trans social media influencers and was “groomed” online to change gender….

The mother thought he had decided against transitioning medically until she saw that he had a GP referral letter to an NHS gender identity clinic late last year.

Within weeks, he had received Finasteride – a hair-loss drug being used experimentally on those wishing to transition – and other hormones.

“He can’t have even have had counselling, and the problem is professionals take an affirmative approach without question,” she said. “I think it is tragic if he has to live a life medically dependent. He has never even had time to just fall in love.”

No matter. It's all in the name of gender ideology.
