I've featured photographer Tish Murtha before – here and here – with her pictures of disaffected Tyneside youth in the 1970s. A new book, Elswick Kids, was published last month, taking a warmer set of images of children playing out in the streets, against the background of a run-down working-class area of Newcastle:

Numbers 3,6,9 show the same two brothers. They must have been taken minutes apart.
Before I spotted this I was disturbed by the apparent bullying in number 9. Just shows how a single image can give entirely the wrong impression.LikeLike

Yes, I noticed that. Looks at first like an older kid bullying a young one, but it’s his brother.
