Ooh goodie – a new live Dinah Washington clip. From the West Coast TV show "Bandstand Revue", 1955:
It's not a song I'm familiar with. It seems to have been recorded first by Jaye P. Morgan, and released in November 1954, charting at #3 in Billboard in January 1955. From the original Billboard review: "The petite canary bows on the label with a warm rendition of a lovely new tune sparked by an ear-caressing arrangement by the Hugo Winterhalter ork. A fine new waxing by the thrush and ork." So there you go.
Recorded by Dinah in January 1955 – and later by quite a few others, including a great version by Nina Simone.
For me though, Dinah is always mesmerising.
