A bothy is an unlocked shelter out in the wilds, available for anyone to use. The Mountain Bothies Association is a charity which maintains about 100 of these shelters in some of the remoter parts of Great Britain – mostly in Scotland, but also in Wales and the North of England. Landscape photographer Nicholas JR White has been photographing bothies, and the people involved in looking after them, for his project, Black Dots.
