In late 1961 photographer Ted Russell took some pictures of a young up-and-coming folk singer in the apartment on West 4th Street where he lived with girlfriend Suze Rotolo, and at Gerde's Folk City in Greenwich Village. Life Magazine wasn't interested, but the photos are now the subject of an exhibition in NYC:
