Photographer Mario Tama accompanied researchers with NASA's Operation IceBridge on their research flights over parts of Canada, Greenland, and the Arctic Ocean on their Arctic spring campaign. These shots are of ice fields and glaciers on Ellesmere Island – Canada's most northerly land, just west of the top of Greenland:
