Until recently she was just Joyce (joy-see), but since 2009 she's been Joyce Moreno. She was one of the best things in Katie Derham's documentary, The Girl From Ipanema: Brazil, Bossa Nova And The Beach – first shown back in August and repeated this week.

She's a magical performer, just living those wonderful bossa rhythms. And the guitar's pretty good too:

She's recorded over 21 albums, going back to 1968, so it's not easy to pick out anything in particular. This is a good early track, with plenty of that trademark samba scat – "be-la-dappy-de-la-dap-de-hay…"
