In response to presidential nominee Gary Johnson's crass "What is Aleppo?", the Atlantic's In Focus has put together a gallery, What Is Aleppo? This Is Aleppo.

The photos go back to 2012. This is nothing new, even though many just seem to be discovering the place, thanks to pictures like that of young Omran Daqneesh. Try #7, which I can't bring myself to copy – "The bodies of two Syrian children lie in the rubble of a residential building reportedly hit by an explosives-filled barrel dropped by a government forces helicopter on March 18, 2014." That's over two years ago. And yes, it's always "government forces" doing the killing.

This street scene is also from March 2014:

In the two and a half years since, things have only got worse.

On the subject of bombing Syria, here's a good piece from Labour MP Alison McGovern on the leftist idiots in the party who seem to think that those MPs who voted for air strikes earlier this year should somehow now be hanging their heads in shame. If anyone should be hanging their heads in shame, it's those who have relentlessly and smugly campaigned against any involvement – allowing Assad's forces free reign in the skies over Aleppo.

At least, despite Corbyn's best efforts, there are still some principled MPs left in the party.

I don’t think Corbyn is unprincipled. He has principles but rotten ones: essentially that anything liberal democracies do is bad and anything the enemies of liberal democracy is okay.
