The pictures of Antwerp-born photographer Harry Gruyaert are, somehow, very Belgian. There's something painterly about them, and also something disquieting – in the spirit of the surrealist painter Paul Delvaux, perhaps. In the second photo here, in the Brussels museum, the homage to Rene Magritte is of course more direct.
