A Kuwaiti woman has been arrested in Saudi Arabia for driving her diabetic father to hospital:

The woman was driving a Chevrolet Epica with her father in the passenger seat when she was pulled over in an area located near the border with Kuwait, Saudi police told Kuwait Times newspaper.

She explained that she was taking her sick father to the hospital, but officers were unsympathetic. The woman was detained and is now being held in custody pending an investigation, police said.

The media report provided no information on whether her sick father made it to the hospital.

But let's not be hasty in rushing to judgement. Remember, we're talking about another culture here; a different culture. Westerners should be wary of trying to impose their version of feminism on Saudi women:

People in Saudi Arabia have their own moral views and needs. What works in other societies may not fit in Saudi, and the reverse.

I'm sure the diabetic father would be the first to agree. If he survived.

It’s funny that the Guardian never used the line about ‘their own moral views and needs’ back in the days of South African apartheid. I can’t think why they were so unenlightened then.

sadly he might, whether or not he survived. what does a kuffah know about the rewards in heaven for those who die in the cause of not being driven by women? Or of the rewards for women who submit to FGM. Not of course that women being passengers is a requirement of islam, nor FGM a uniquely muslim practice; both more a sort of bunce for the male godhead.
