With the benefit of hindsight it's easy to see how it would end. Songs like this, plus the more famous "Live Fast Love Hard Die Young; then Willie Nelson's Hello Walls, surely one of the most depressing songs in a genre by no means short of depressing songs; and the equally cheery "Four in the Morning". In 1996, at the age of 64, Young shot himself. But yes, he left behind some fine music, and in 2000, just a few years too late, was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame.
