A couple of pieces from the Middle East….
Michael Young in the Daily Star is always worth reading, though admittedly, writing for a local audience, he tends to assume his readers have at least some knowledge of the complexities of Lebanese politics. Here he writes about the Christian leader Michel Aoun, and his unfortunate habit of picking the wrong horse. Currently the Aounists are backing Assad in Syria, in the foolish and short-sighted belief that Christians should ally themselves with minority groups in the Arab world, against the Sunnis.
And Michael J Totten is now back on his travels, starting with this piece from Arab Jerusalem.
