With the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, it says, conducted by Roelof van Driesten…but thankfully here it's just the man himself on piano, with one of his greatest songs:

From 1979 – originally on his Good Old Boys album, but a song that very much works on its own. Recorded by quite a few other artists: notably Bonnie Raitt – and good luck to her, she does a great version - but this is surely more a man's song.

Simplest is often best, especially with Randy Newman. I was going to write some more about him, but I've said it already.

Good Old Boys is far and away his best album, although I don’t imagine the first track gets much airplay these days. Live, he is too often guilty of egging on his audience to sneer at the subjects of his songs, though.
