That tale about Bush telling France's President Chirac that the invasion of Iraq was all about defeating Gog and Magog has – eventually – made it to the Guardian's CiF, with a breathless article from Andrew Brown. I wrote about it a couple of months back, explaning why I thought it was a load of nonsense. Looks like the story's not going to die, though.

Far too many people are committed to the idea that removing Saddam Hussein was a bad idea for this story to die in the near future. It will probably be with us for a long time.
