The opening cinematic to the forthcoming Beatles Rock Band music video game (due for release 09/09/09, so it'll be the same both sides of the Atlantic – see?). A wonderful opening sequence panning down over Liverpool. The two gameplay trailers aren't bad either. (via)

It’s surprising how many iconic images come out of the Beatles. That one picture of left-handed McCartney playing with right-handed Harrison, like mirror images, and Lennon bounding up and down, brings back my whole high-school days, angst and fake swagger and all. The only thing comparable is the song “Come and Go with me”, which brings back my youth in Wildwood reading Superman comics under the boardwalk with sea-gulls overhead. I can smell the ocean when I hear it now.
After high-school I have nothing like that. Maybe at a certain age you don’t need icons. Maybe younger kids think Britney Spears is an icon. What a dreadful thought!LikeLike

Fake swagger? Surely not.
I know what you mean, of course, though I always used to prefer the Stones (and Dylan, of course). The Beatles seemed somehow more poppy, less serious. The girls all liked them. It was only later I realised how good they really were.LikeLike
