Down the back streets of Shoreditch:

Mick, in your photos, the streets and alleys and spaces you capture are often empty, like in some surrealist paintings. Do you go out very early in the morning when there are no people about? Is this on purpose? And aren’t you afraid to walk or bike through these empty streets?

It’s Sunday morning, everyone’s in church…;)

Well yes, DV’s right, these were taken Sunday morning – late Sunday morning – though I doubt many locals were in church. Shoreditch is on the edge of the City, so it’s pretty quiet on a weekend. In the back streets anyway. Head to Spitalfields or Brick Lane just a few hundred yards away and it’s crowded.
It’s not at all a heavy area round there. But I don’t think there are many areas of London that are intimidating in that sense.LikeLike
