Is this some kind of satire? The author is Naomi Wolf, last seen praising the burqa, so the answer is almost certainly no:

Please understand what you are looking at when you look at Sarah "Evita" Palin. You are looking at the designated muse of the coming American police state.

You have to understand how things work in a closing society in order to understand "Palin Power." A gang or cabal seizes power, usually with an affable, weak figurehead at the fore. Then they will hold elections — but they will make sure that the election will be corrupted and that the next affable, weak figurehead is entirely in their control. Remember, Russia has Presidents; Russia holds elections. Dictators and gangs of thugs all over the world hold elections. It means nothing. When a cabal has seized power you can have elections and even presidents, but you have freedom [?].

I realized early on with horror what I was seeing in Governor Palin: the continuation of the Rove-Cheney cabal, but this time without restraints….

Reports confirmed my suspicions: Palin, not McCain, is the FrankenBarbie of the Rove-Cheney cabal. The strategy became clear. Time magazine reported that Rove is "dialed in" to the McCain campaign. Rove's protégé Steve Schmidt is now campaign manager. And Politico reported that Rove was heavily involved in McCain's vice presidential selection. Finally a new report shows that there are dozens of Bush and Rove operatives surrounding Sarah Palin and orchestrating her every move.

What's the plan? It is this. McCain doesn't matter. Reputable dermatologists are discussing the fact that in simply actuarial terms, John McCain has a virulent and life-threatening form of skin cancer. It is the elephant in the room, but we must discuss the health of the candidates: doctors put survival rates for someone his age at two to four years. I believe the Rove-Cheney cabal is using Sarah Palin as a stalking horse, an Evita figure, to put a popular, populist face on the coming police state and be the talk show hostess for the end of elections as we know them. If McCain-Palin get in, this will be the last true American election. She will be working for Halliburton, KBR, Rove and Cheney into the foreseeable future — for a decade perhaps — a puppet "president" for the same people who have plundered our treasure, are now holding the US economy hostage and who murdered four thousand brave young men and women in a way of choice and lies….

Under the coming Palin-Rove police state, you will witness the plans now underway to bring Iraqi troops to patrol the streets of our nation. This is not McCain's fantasy: it is Rove's and Cheney's.

Under the Palin-Rove police state, there will be no further true elections. Mark Crispin Miller has done sensational and under-reported investigating t o establish that — as I warned — indeed the GOP staffers on the US Senate Judiciary Committee have been .

Have been….what?? The sentence stops there! Have they got to Naomi already, these Rove-Cheney beasts?

Wolf is a piker compared to the increasingly deranged Andrew Sullivan. He has demanded Palin’s geneology records to prove that her fifth child is indeed hers and not her daughters, he has declared that she named her daughters after witches, he even complained that the youngest child was passed around to different family members during her convention speech.
And trust me, the full list is much worse.

The sentence stopped probably due to Valium kicking in.

This woman is bonkers – ‘The most serious health issue McCain has faced was the removal [in 2000] of a cancerous melanoma from his left temple, which left a scar nearly 2 inches in diameter and necessitated the removal of underlying lymph nodes. But no cancer has recurred there, and the probability of such a recurrence is less than 10%, his doctors said.’ LA Times 5/08.
Probably less chance than NW has of being ….. (fill in as required).

Of course the upside of the coming Police State is that Naomi Wolf will be in the gulag, or shot as a counterrevolutionary, thus sparing us from any more of her demented wailings.

You know, we used to have asylums. Now these people are left to their own devices. Medication can’t fix everything.

Heh. Reminds me of Diotallevi’s paranoid rantings typed into Aboulafia in “Focault’s Pendulum” with Cheney and Rove as the Templar Grandmasters.
    Entertaining, yet disturbing.

“Of course the upside of the coming Police State is that Naomi Wolf will be in the gulag, or shot as a counterrevolutionary, thus sparing us from any more of her demented wailings.”
Seriously, the don’t treat their controlled opposition shills that way.
In Wolf’s has much (certainly well-deserved) blame for the majority of Republican executives and legislators (she’s definitely a winger) but little for the Quisling Democrats (esp. Lieberman, whom she even campaigned for) that went along with the bullshit wars.
Naomi Wolf is a Rhodes scholar (CFR), was a high-level consultant on Clinton’s reelection campaign as well as on the Gore/Lieberman campaign (Leiberman, the guy who’s on about “Islamofascists” and is just fine with the Patriot Act, Homeland Security, et. al.).
“The end of America” is an odd title for someone who helped get reelected someone who was directly responsible for its deconstruction. Clinton presided over an unprecedented expansion of the Federal police state, not to mention the incineration of the children Waco compound, the Randy Weaver siege and thug raid of Elian Gonzalez. I’ve never heard her repudiate Bill Clinton’s initiatives with federal grants to local police departments that went a long way toward militarizing them tactically, equipment-wise and culturally. Her ilk has no problem with police state tactics or an unprovoked attack on a sovereign nation (the run-up to which which was equally based on blatant lies), so long as the targets are “right wing extremists”, “gun nuts” refugees from Communist dictators, or nations that are “too white” and want to stay that way and want to run their own currency and banking.

“Wolf is a piker compared to the increasingly deranged Andrew Sullivan.” Rubbish. He asked a perfectly legitimate question of somwone the press has been forbidden to touch. Now she’s unraveling at a rate of knots and what’s more just about everything he has said about Palin’s complete unsuitability for the position of VP is playing out. He is No Naomi Wolf. But you should be very concerned with McCain’s attempts to delay the presidential campaign for the good of the nation.
