In what sense is Scotland the mother of country music? Not saying it isn’t. Just wondering.

Generally Scottish/Irish folk music is reckoned to be the basis of country music. I reckon there’s a deal of English influence in there as well, but the anti-English bias of the Scots/Irish settlers in the Southern States means it’s down-played. But that’s just my take on it.
