Without wishing to give more attention to Seumas Milne’s paean to the glorious Iraqi “armed resisitance” than it deserves, I’d just say that anyone who can write this…

The greatest danger to both the resistance and the wider campaign to end the occupation remains the Sunni-Shia split, fostered since the invasion in classic divide-and-rule mode.

– that is, someone who believes it’s the occupation forces that’ve been deliberately ramping up Shia-Sunni hatred – really doesn’t know what they’re talking about.

My reading of history is that no occupier really need “divide and rule”; all he need do is refrain from uniting the buggers agin him.

Milne would probably have been calling on the Germans and Russians to unite against the Americans in 1942 instead of falling for American divide-and-rule tactics

More in the same vein. I really don’t know what to say about either Shameless Milne or Neil Cock, except that I would dearly wish to see them in the hands of the ‘resistance’ they support.
