Cairo: About 20,000 people converged on a south Egypt village to be blessed by a calf born, they believed, as God’s reply to the publication of the Prophet Muhammad cartoons. Its skin folds were said to have formed, “There is no God but Allah”.
Will the calfskin wallet have a mo-tif?
Will the milkshake from the calf’s milk have a legible squiggle?
Will the vealburger (minimac?) have the face of…somebody?
It behoofs me to ask no more.

What with this and the Koran-in-Pakistani Gutter story here http://www.expressindia.com/fullstory.php?newsid=62576#compstory – it kind of shows that they’ll mobilise at the drop of a pin… puts the cartoons into some kind of ghastly perspective…

Why does God have to get up to tricks like this? Why can’t he start a blog to let people know what he thinks? It would be much simpler.

I live close to a small, Spanish supermarket which made the news a year or so ago for a frost-mark in their frozen foods cabinet door which put some people in mind of the Virgin Mary. People were lined up around the block for a glimpse until the market had gotten all the press they wanted and realized they weren’t moving any guisantes congelado.
Of course, it’s all fun and games until somebody gets their embassy torched.
