Since, as both Seumas Milne and Omar Bakri Mohammed agree, 7/7 was a direct consequence of the part Britain has played in the occupation of Muslim lands, I suggest that what we saw yesterday could mark the resurgence of a new and potentially terrifying pan-Slavic movement, inspired by Al-Qaeda, protesting the occupation of Kosovo by Western forces. The escape of the bombers is thus easily explained: everyone was looking for Asian youths, allowing the Goran Ivanisevic lookalikes to make their escape. The failure of the bombs to actually cause any damage is down to the inexperience of these young Slavs, who sadly failed to live up to the glorious precedent set by Gavrilo Princip. But this is just the start.

For too long now we’ve allowed the grievances of the Slavs to fester. Interference in Slavic affairs must cease. We’ll only be rid of this new terror when all Western forces are removed from their lands, and Yugoslavia is reformed.

The idea that Britain (and the US and Australia) are paying a price for it’s foreign policy should not trouble anyone. Nor should it be refuted. It’s a true statement, but an awful lot is (purposely) left out.
When someone says that Britain “brought on the attacks” by violating Iraqi airspace to insure a no-flight zone in the north, it is never pointed out that Britain successfully prevented an act of genocide against the Kurds. (Sadam even called the program “Arabization”).
At bottom, all such arguments amount to saying that fascists should be left alone. As though they have a right to kill their enemies, a right that no one grants to those who fight them.
So there is no need to get defensive. Britain fought fascism, Britain won, the fascists retaliated.
