• Very strange. Trans doctors are allowed by the General Medical Council  to start all over again with their shiny new gender identity, and all past records wiped clean:

Wes Streeting has raised concerns after a Telegraph investigation found that doctors who change gender are able to have past wrongdoings scrubbed from the public record.

The Health Secretary said the General Medical Council (GMC), which regulates doctors, should urgently overhaul its practices, adding the situation should “not have been allowed”.

The GMC holds a public register of all doctors, allowing the public to check whether a medic has been subject to restrictions or suspensions, or has been struck off.

However, on Thursday the watchdog admitted that it erases the public disciplinary history of doctors who change their gender identities.

It raises the prospect that medics seeking to hide a chequered disciplinary history could exploit the system by choosing to change their gender identity in order to erase their past. It also means a female patient who specifically requested a female doctor would be unable to find out if their doctor was born a man.

More evidence of institutional capture. But good for Streeting, calling this out….

  • Trump is bad enough, but Elon Musk is off the charts:

Elon Musk has accused Kyiv of being a “massive graft machine feeding off the dead bodies of Ukrainian soldiers” and said President Trump was right to “ignore” President Zelensky in peace talks with Moscow.

The tech billionaire and close Trump adviser also echoed the US president’s call for elections in Ukraine, claiming that Zelensky’s people “despise” him…

Musk wrote on X, his social media platform: “If Zelensky was actually loved by the people of Ukraine, he would hold an election. He knows he would lose in a landslide. So he cancelled the election.”

A nasty little Robin to Trump's Batman.

  • Carole Hooven was bullied out of Harvard for stating that in biology there are only two sexes. Jerry Coyne quotes from an article she's written in today's Boston Globe – Don't let anyone confuse you: There really are only two sexes. Yes Trump is right about sex, she says, however much you may dislike his politics.

Ideally, political beliefs would not bias views of scientific reality. But take a look at how the media covered the Trump administration’s new executive order. The Globe: “Trump executive order misstates facts about sex and gender, scientists say.” Time: “Trump’s ‘Biological Truth’ Executive Order Is Not Based in Biology or Truth.” The Guardian: “Most scientists now reject the idea that sex is strictly binary” and “sex is a hell of a lot more complicated than Trump’s executive order would have you believe.” NBC: “The executive order questions [transgender people’s] existence by saying the government would recognize only two unchangeable sexes: female and male.”

As for Fox News: “Trump is returning sanity to the gender conversation.”

Many journalists — and the experts they consult — seem unable to disentangle their politics from analysis of the relevant science. I’m a Democrat, and I have never voted for a Republican. Yet while I might have worded things in Trump’s executive order a little differently, I agree with the way this administration has defined sex.

There are two and only two sexes. Sex is immutable in humans and other mammals, and it is defined by gamete size.

When you see it laid out like this, with all the resources of the liberal US media, plus all the scientific institutions that've bowed their heads to the gender gods and gone with the ideology rather than the science, the comparison with Lysenko is clear.

[If you don't know about Lysenko, here's Wiki. Basically he rejected genetics in favour of a Marxist-friendly kind of Lamarckism – the belief that acquired characteristics can be inherited by offspring, in opposition to Darwin's proven theories:

For starters, he believed that plants and seeds could be trained to follow socialist organizational principles. His theory, which would eventually be dubbed Lysenkoism, stated that crops could be trained to conform and produce vast yields almost from out of thin air. According to what he called “the law of the life of species,” seeds wouldn’t compete with one another, but rather they would cooperate with each other in a near-sentient fashion — like humans.

Applying the Marxist principle of materialism, in which the conditions surrounding an individual dictate its behaviors and responses, Lysenko believed that plants and animals, too, could be reshaped as needed.

In 1927, Lysenko’s theories appeared to be proven when a crop of peas he’d planted in the winter before burst forth into green life. He thought this proved that he had taught the peas to grow even in their off-season simply by exposing them to the cold.

Stalin backed him, Lysenkoism became officially approved Marxist-Leninist biology, opponents were jailed or sent to the gulags – and millions starved to death.

It's the classic case of ideology trumping science – cited, often enough, as proof of the idiocy of Soviet Communism under Stalin, and the willingness of regime apparatchiks to go along with the latest approved fad for the sake of their careers.

    Well….]

  • A timely report from the Telegraph on the treatment by the Russians of captured Ukrainian women:

Ukrainian women taken as prisoners of war are being tortured and humiliated by Russian soldiers in a systematic campaign of abuse, survivors have revealed.

Some have been subjected to cruel degradations, including being forced to march naked in the snow and expose themselves to their captors.

The Telegraph tracked down four women who agreed to speak out about the months and, in some cases, years they spent in captivity.

Their testimonies reveal the brutality with which Moscow’s forces treat the Ukrainians they have captured, providing evidence of what are almost certainly war crimes.

“They led us to the showers with bags over our heads, where we were forced to undress. We had to walk naked in front of the men and everyone else, bent over, through freezing cold water,” said Larysa Kycherenko, 53, who served in Ukraine’s National Guard.

“Afterwards, we were forced to sing the Russian anthem while naked. We returned to the cells in tears, utterly distraught, crying and in a state of hysteria… It was inhumane. To them, we were nothing.”…

During her ordeal, Ms Kycherenko was forced to stand for over 12 hours a day, beaten, and psychologically tortured – in an apparent violation of the Geneva Conventions.

She described being “slammed” against the wall by a guard and beaten with a metal pole, and then being denied medical treatment for the open wound it left on her leg.

“We were constantly being told we were fascists, and that if we weren’t shot by our own people during an exchange, someone else would kill us. The threat of death was always there.”

Since Russia launched its full scale invasion of Ukraine, it has been repeatedly accused of mistreating prisoners of war and Ukrainian civilians.

At least 48 detention centres have been identified by the United Nations, while Ukraine’s Prosecutor General reported that at least nine out of ten POWs returned to the country suffered physical and psychological torture….

Every day the women were forced into stress positions – another form of torture where prisoners are forced to hold agonising postures – for hours at a time, and made to do near-impossible exercise routines supervised by guards who would beat them if they failed to keep up.

“We would fall to the ground and they would punish us […] We were made to march on the spot in the freezing cold for hours at a time, singing the Russian national anthem,” she said. “Every day your only task is to survive.”

Ms Zubko and her fellow prisoners were fed porridge mixed with water, which she said was barely enough to survive. “We were like skeletons,” she said.

Ms Zubko and several women The Telegraph spoke to reported being given electric shocks by cattle prods and power cables during the repeated interrogations….

    And so on.

But, you know, Putin must be appeased. Zelensky is the dictator.

Younger girls would be taken to a dormitory where Russian soldiers stayed.

“When they returned, they cried,” said Ms Huseynova. Other women were often raped by soldiers who promised they would get food or see their children again, she said.

“I heard terrible screams. I could hear people beating and people were screaming. It was such a horror. In my life, even when I was already beaten, it was not as horrible as listening to this.”

Almost three years later, Ms Kycherenko has still not been reunited with her husband or son, who are still in captivity. She is kept awake at night by the thought of them suffering in the same way she did.

“I want to tell them that I love them. I was trapped for seven months, but to think of them there, three years later, is unbearable.”

"According to Turk: “Under international law, any transfer of remains must comply with the prohibition on cruel, inhuman, or degrading treatment. It must ensure the dignity of the deceased and the dignity of the families.”

"Spare us the tears. The UN has spent years funding, legitimizing, and excusing Hamas. Now it pretends to be shocked when the terror group desecrates a hostages babies’ bodies?"

  • The Times:

    Hamas1

Black coffins were placed on a stage by Hamas as the bodies of three of the most prominent Israeli hostages held in Gaza, the two Bibas children and their mother, were finally returned under the ceasefire deal.

The two red-headed children, Ariel, four, and Kfir, ten months old, and their mother, Shiri Bibas, 32, were held by Hamas since October 7, when they were snatched from their kibbutz home in southern Israel and their plight led to an outpouring of anger and grief.

    The Telegraph:

The bodies of Shiri Bibas, her children Ariel and Kfir, and Oded Lifshitz – pictures of whom were on the coffins – were handed over to a Red Cross convoy to be returned to Israel.

Behind the coffins on stage was a picture of Benjamin Netanyahu, with blood dripping from his mouth and text in English accusing him of killing the hostages.

The coffins on stage appeared to be props, as different coffins were seen being handed over to the Red Cross by masked Hamas fighters dressed in black.

Despicable. And the Red Cross are happy to play along with this obscene ceremony – the only time we see them and their lovely ambulances is in these grotesque Hamas parades.

  • Women's football, that is.

Asha Roy, 17, was excited to take part in a women's football tournament, but her hopes were dashed as Islamists forced the organisers to cancel the match in northern Bangladesh.

Shortly before the game began earlier this month, the Islami Andolan Bangladesh group announced a protest rally against the event in Rangpur region, saying it was un-Islamic.

Fearing trouble, local police stepped in and the women's team members were asked to return to their home for their safety….

The Islamists insist that the match they stopped was against their religious values and say that they are determined to prevent any future football games.

"If women want to play football, they should cover their entire body, and they can play only in front of female spectators. Men cannot watch them play," Maulana Ashraf Ali, the leader of the Islami Andolan Bangladesh in the Taraganj area of Rangpur, told the BBC.

Mr Ali also insisted that the group "definitely" want hard-line Islamic Sharia law in Bangladesh.

It seems to be a one-way thing, this increasing hard-line Islamification. No Muslim country, as far as I can tell, is liberalising: it's all the other way, with women, as ever, the biggest victims.

In Katje Adler's recent two-parter report from the Balkans she made some interesting comments from Kosovo, where the Muslim faith of the young used to be of the kind we saw here as Christianity declined: they paid some lip-service so as not to offend their parents, but weren't really interested. Recently, though, Saudi Arabia has been pouring billions into a program of Mosque-building, and spreading their hard-line Wahhabi teachings. Now you see young woman in black, all veiled up….
