• Gender ideology rots the brain – and NHS Fife are proving it in court. They're only following the Scottish government line though. Alex Massie in the Times on the Sandie Peggie case:

The stupidity displayed by NHS Fife throughout this saga would put halfwits to shame. On Wednesday Isla Bumba, the health board’s head of “Equalities and Human Rights”, told the tribunal that she could not be sure of her own sex. “No one knows what their chromosomes are,” she said, a development which may surprise any woman who has, say, given birth.

Until recently, however, this was a statement that was simultaneously obtuse and orthodox. Multiple Scottish politicians have said similar things. Meanwhile, Upton says “I’m biologically female”, though we should also acknowledge that “the term biologically female or biologically male is completely nebulous”. I remind you that this person is a qualified physician.

Well, I am not persuaded Upton is correct about the science here but I am confident that the science is irrelevant since this is a question of law and the law is entirely clear: Upton is a man because he is biologically male.

The health board’s defence for its apparently unlawful policies appears to be no stronger than the suggestion that every other health board in Scotland was doing the same thing. I submit that “Cut us some slack, everyone else was incompetent too” is a bold claim of justification that is unlikely to prove persuasive….

Collared by the radio station LBC, John Swinney declared that of course he had confidence in the people running NHS Fife. He could hardly say otherwise without making the board’s position even less tenable than is already the case. Yet for all that Swinney would dearly love this issue to disappear, it will not. NHS Fife may be run astonishingly badly but it is hardly the only organisation in Scotland of which that judgment could be made.

For the health board was not acting independently or in any kind of off-the-reservation, freelancing capacity. On the contrary, it was following the same mistaken and unlawful “advice” as every other public sector agency and it was doing so in circumstances in which the baseline and expectations for behaviour were set by the Scottish government itself. If there is rot here — and, my, there really is in every sense of the word — it begins at the very top.

In other words, the Scottish government cannot wash its hands of this affair any more than NHS Fife can emerge from it with its reputation enhanced. Magical thinking has been the default proposition across the public sector for many years and we are only now gaining a full sense of the damage this nonsense has caused. The Peggie case is but a microcosm of the macro failings apparent across a public sector where immovable stupidity meets unstoppable incompetence.

Yes, Peggie's been cleared of gross misconduct, but this tribunal case rumbles on…

Pride has been so thoroughly co-opted by trans, by the gender people, that when police support a Pride march they're taking sides in the gender debate. That's where we are. Even a judge can see it.

    Background:

A gender-critical lesbian has won a case against Northumbria Police who failed to act impartially by marching at a Newcastle Pride parade.

Linzi Smith, 34, claimed that the force's "uniformed participation" in last year's march broke the professional oath sworn by each police officer to act "with impartiality" at work.

And in a landmark High Court ruling today, a judge found that there would have been "issues" in policing with impartiality if, for example, an "attempted counter demonstration by gender critical people" broke out.

Court filings outline how Smith "entirely accepts that it was necessary for the event to be policed, but she objects to what she sees as the force and/or members of the force associating themselves with the views of supporters of gender ideology and transgender activists by actively participating".

"Gender ideology", she claimed, had been "embraced by the organisers of the event" and was supported by "many of the participants".

While at the march, police were seen marching with a "Police Pride" flag, Pride colours, Unison trade union banners and more.

    Full text:

I am delighted with the judgement of the Court. It is terrifying to live in a community where the police have abandoned their duty of impartiality and embraced a highly controversial political cause. I’ve experienced first-hand what happens when the police forget their duty of impartiality. I posted some gender critical tweets, and Northumbria Police launched an investigation into my conduct – but when I received appalling homophobic abuse as a lesbian, they did absolutely nothing. Their participation in the Pride march clearly shows where their sympathies lie. Today however, the court has ruled decisively that the Chief Constable acted unlawfully. My hope is that Northumbria Police change their ways and follow this ruling. If they do they will be policing the community for everyone.

Many Thanks to each and every one of you who showed me support throughout.
This is a victory for all of us. ❤️

    Last word to Joan Smith:

It’s a scandal of epic proportions that so many senior police officers have embraced gender ideology. They have fallen for the lie that giving special rights to trans people, at the expense of everyone else, is a neutral and apolitical act. Today’s judgment has stripped away that excuse, exposing the spectacle of cops waving Progress flags as a declaration of blatant bias.

  • From the Daily NK:

As the first day of the hottest period of summer (July 20) approaches, demand for dog meat is surging in North Korea. With fewer rural households raising dogs, supply has tightened, prompting traders to scramble to secure stock.

A source in South Hamgyong province told Daily NK recently that “the price of dogs and dog meat in Hamhung has been steadily climbing since the start of the month,” adding that this is “due to rising demand as the hottest days approach.”

Unlike South Korea, where cultural shifts and a new law banning the breeding, slaughter, and distribution of dogs for consumption are phasing out the practice, dog meat remains a staple health food in North Korea during the summer.

Many North Koreans believe that eating dog meat on the three hottest days of summer drives away heat and boosts stamina. The belief is so widespread that even financially struggling households try to eat dog meat at least once during the season.

Is this why we talk about the dog days of summer? [No.  "The phrase “Dog Days” was coined thousands of years ago to describe uncomfortably hot weather and it centers around the rising of the Sirius sun or “the Dog Star.”  The “Dog Star” is only visible for 40 days each year. This is usually the hottest stretch of summer."]

Dog meat restaurants are placing early bulk orders ahead of the summer peak in anticipation of a sales surge.

Households commonly buy and cook dog meat in kilogram units, and as the hottest period approaches, prices surge and supply tightens. As a result, restaurants are reportedly rushing to secure stock from traders.

According to the source, dog meat traders in Hamhung are now traveling directly to rural villages to secure dogs, as few urban residents raise them. Rural households, however, still tend to keep dogs.

In Hyesan, Ryanggang province, dog traders are also actively moving through rural areas, reportedly offering above-market prices to secure supply.

Best keep Fido indoors for the next few weeks.

  • A report from the LGB Alliance on the "compelled conformity" imposed by the "LGBTQ+ community"  – the dominant TQ+ part, that is – on same-sex attracted people:

Surveys of the ‘LGBTQ+ community’ produce findings that misrepresent the experiences and the views of same-sex attracted people.

This groundbreaking Report on the impact of EDI in the workplace exclusively surveyed LGB people. It shows why a disaggregation of the data is vital to report accurately and meaningfully for lesbians, gay men and bisexuals.

Respondents spoke of a ‘compelled conformity’ at work.

They said, “I was told what the LGBTQ+ community was and what I think, even though I disagreed with nearly all of it. Nobody asked my opinion, even as a gay man. I was just told what I thought.”

It’s clear the consequences of disagreement are frightening.

“I am expected to accept the male lesbian to keep my job, It makes me very unwell…”

    Key findings:

    • 91% feel uncomfortable being grouped under the broader LGBTQ+ umbrella commonly used in workplace EDI policy and initiatives
    • Over a third (36%) have been advised by HR to stay silent about views that conflict with staff LGBTQ+ groups and DEI initiatives — while 86% avoid expressing their views altogether, fearing consequences such as job loss or disciplinary action
    • 79% of LGB employees say workplace “LGBT” training does not address LGB-specific issues.

  • From MEMRI TV:

British Islamic scholar Asrar Rashid spoke at a March for Palestine organized by the Workers Party of Britain in Birmingham on July 12, 2025. He said that Palestinian armed struggle is justified because they are resisting oppression and the “banker state” of Israel. Rashid stated that Muslims take up armed struggle and are not ashamed of it, as the concept of Jihad exists in the Quran.

He said there have been attempts to “malign” Jihad by equating “real Jihad” groups with terrorists, explaining that this has existed since 9/11 through Al-Qaeda, “which was formulated by the West” for this purpose. Rashid called on the British government to arrest those in the Israeli embassy in the UK, but he said they will not do so because “they control your capital, they control your finance, they write down the policies for you.”

Other speakers at the march included former British MP George Galloway, musician Lowkey, and sociologist David Miller.

He certainly knows which buttons to push before he sets off on his jihad rant: the “banker state” of Israel….“they control your capital, they control your finance".

Did none of the young Workers Party members wonder, just for a moment, what they were doing cheering on this relentless antisemitic bile, coming from such a reactionary, misogynist, would-be theocrat? Well no – that's what they were there for. George Galloway, Lowkey, David Miller.

The absolute state of the British left…
