An interesting postscript to those celebrations the other day from the Royal College of Psychiatrists on winning a Stonewall Gold Award, in a letter from forensic psychiatrist Professor Jeremy Coid in today's Sunday Times:

Many psychiatrists are grateful to The Sunday Times for exposing disastrous shortcomings in patient care at Tavistock Gids. Psychiatry was at the heart of this and shares responsibility with Tavistock for what happened.

Few readers will know that a group of psychiatrists went to the president of the Royal College of Psychiatrists three years ago, deeply concerned, proposing to bring it to wider attention. They were dismissed by the president, who was actively seeking a “silver award” from the charity Stonewall.

Tavistock Gids has destroyed itself and is now closing. However, NHS management, the medical establishment and the Royal College of Psychiatrists — whose response to the scandal has been wholly inadequate — have been infiltrated by social justice ideology. This has rippled across institutions that should be helping and supporting, not indoctrinating us.
