Here's an extraordinary short film (25 mins) by sister and brother Evgenia and Maxim Arbugaeva, about a lone marine biologist in the Siberian Arctic researching the walrus population.

Because of climate change the walruses can no longer rest on the ice sheets to recover from their long sea trips and have to seek land instead, with the result that they congregate here in vast numbers, maybe up to 100,000 at a time…

It's included in a small exhibition of Evgenia Arbugaeva's Hyperborea project images just coming to an end in the Print Sales room at the Photographers' Gallery.

I featured some of her Arctic photos a couple of years back.
