Imam Abu Usamah At-Thahabi, in Leeds, has the proper Islamic take on Mahsa Amini and the protests in Iran:

"I find it very deafening that the voice of the 'feminists' of the world, the so-called progressives, who also exploited the anarchy of these protests [in Iran], they too advantage of it, and they are encouraging your daughters and my daughters, your community…They are encouraging us to go out and get behind these protests for the freedom of the woman because the hijab holds her back. The hijab is backwards, it is barbaric, it is the sign of a man having pressure over a woman. […]

"As Muslims, we have got to get our heads together. We cannot be tricked and fooled by these people, they don't mean any good for us. If there is a situation where there are a bunch of girls out there protesting, then as a Muslim man, I know where my position should be. Regardless of what they are protesting. As a Muslim, I am not going to allow girls to lead me in any protest.[…]

"What kind of man are you? What kind of man are you, when your wife, you can't tell her…Here is the hadith: Nothing should be seen of the girl – her ears, her earrings, her hair – none of that should be seen – except her hands and her face. Not her feet, not without socks – none of that stuff. […]

"So the Islamic nation, we have a lot of correcting to do. When we get control of our women, then we will be on the road to success."

Well, now we know.
