Sunil Gupta, an Indian-born Canadian photographer now based in London, has spent his career "making work responding to the injustices suffered by gay men across the globe, himself included". He had a retrospective earlier this year at the Photographers' Gallery, and will be signing copies of his new book London 82 there this Thursday evening.
From his website:
I came to live in London in late 1977 and spent the first few years photographing my environment around Fulham and the commercial areas around King's Road, South Kensington and the West End.
In the end I found London streets were more mixed and harder to navigate as they were less defined than the ones in New York.
