One last shot from Magnum's 2018 Pictures of the Year.

From Turkish photographer Emin Özmen's series When Water Rises: A Journey Through Turkey’s Drowning Landscape, looking at the remains of villages submerged by the monumental GAP dam programme in South Eastern Anatolia:

Savasan-mosque
Children play in the water, on the roof of a partially sunken mosque in Savasan. The village (only accessible by boat) attracts all the attention. More than 200,000 visitors come every year to admire a minaret’s visible above the water. The rest of the city disappeared after Birecik dam's construction. The damming of the Tigris and Euphrates rivers in Turkey creates problems downstream in Iraq – but that's another story.
