In a sermon marking Eid Al-Adha, delivered at the Al-Maqari Mosque in Irbid, Jordan, Sheikh Ahmad Mana'i rants about "conspiracies" carried out by America, Russia, and Europe, along with the Jews - "the brothers of pigs and apes" - and traitors from among the Arabs. He prays to Allah to support the Sunnis in Syria, Iraq, Yemen, and to destroy the "criminal Rafidites",  the "plundering Jews" and the "Rabbis of Tehran", and calls upon Him to "destroy America completely" and to "destroy Russia completely as well."

That's about it.

Amidst the bombast – and those balloons – is a key point: all these conspiracies "have diverted people from Islam's number one cause, the Palestinian cause". Which is to say: the destruction of Israel, according to our cleric here, is Islam's number one cause. I don't think he's going out on a limb, as it were, with that particular claim.

I wonder if these people are getting a bit disappointed with Allah. They pray to him to do all sorts of things to the Jews and others, and nothing much happens. Surely they must be wondering why this is. Is Allah just a bit lazy? Or is it not really on their side?
