A timely reminder from this Foreign Policy photo essay that Libya was once part of Italy's short-lived African empire, which reached its peak (or nadir, depending on how you look at it) under Il Duce.

    Incidentally, this picture from FP appealed to my somewhat cynical sense of humour. What made Il Duce think that he should introduce these guys to Hitler?
