Speaking of art (below), what would make a superbly effective piece of performance art would be to parody a TV chat show, about, say, issues of general interest to teenage girls and young women….except - you cover the presenters in black sacks. So you have these women chatting away in the studio about dating, and meeting boys, and make-up, and so on and so forth – but you can't see them. There are just these talking black sacks sitting on the studio chairs.
It would make for a devastatingly incisive critique of contemporary celebrity culture; alienation and conformity; the fetishisation of women; the impossibility of meaningful personal communication within the dehumanising environment of commercial television….
As so often, the Saudis got there first.
