    That tree has become, thanks to some chainsaw-happy vandal, an abomination; a gruesome spectre of it’s original destiny!

    Oh yeh; people over here are addicted to ‘topping’ their
    Western Red Cedars (Thuja plicata) mainly because they’re BIG! Why anyone would plant one if they didn’t want a 60 metre tree in their yard is beyond me. They’re actually a royal pain in the a** as they are phytotoxic, drop prodigious amounts of litter, and seed themselves prolifically.
