Earlier this sweek Associated Press photojournalist Emilio Morenatti was travelling with a unit of the US army in Afghanistan when their vehicle ran over a bomb. Badly wounded in the leg, he underwent an operation that resulted in the loss of his foot. He's now in hospital recovering.
Here are some of the photos he's taken in Afghanistan and Pakistan over the past couple of years.
