If, like me, your approach to modern physics is to watch from a safe distance, and wait for the occasional exposition that allows you to peek in and, for a short while at least, believe that you may, possibly, just have some slight insight into what's going on, then I'd recommend this lucid account by David Z Albert and Rivka Galchen in Scientific American. Are quantum mechanics and special relativity incompatible, as Einstein believed? It looks they may well be – but, contrary to Einstein, the problem could be with special relativity rather than quantum mechanics.
